Kay and I welcome you to West Franklin’s website and Senior Adult Ministry. My wife and I serve as volunteer leaders for this ministry and are charter members of this fellowship.
I am an ordained minister, former staff member, and denominational employee for nearly fifty years—having retired in December, 2006. Kay was a denominational employee, church secretary, and teacher of children for over forty years but recently joined me in ministry to seniors. We have three children and five grandchildren.
Life Is Divided Into Two Chapters Elton Trueblood has said, “Each chapter of life is good, and it is good to know in which chapter you are living.”
Seniors are aware they are living in life’s last chapters and it can be the best of all—regardless of the circumstances if they are in Christ.
We seniors can testify to the fact that meaningful living in Christ and that our worshiping, studying, playing, and serving together enhances our fellowship with one another and with God.
We seniors prefer to “wear out” rather than “rust out” for the Lord. We are a busy bunch! Here are among some of the things we do together with transportation usually provided:
Bible Study: Sunday at 9:15 a.m. Join us as we study God’s Word each Sunday followed by worship at 10:30 a.m.
Quarterly Senior Events:Held in the fellowship hall, these events usually include a meal along with a movie or games and entertainment.
Trips:Some favorites include attending matinees at the Renaissance Center in Dickson or Cumberland Playhouse in Crossville. Past trips include visiting the Billy Graham Library in North Carolina, The Cove near Ridgecrest, Christmas at Branson, attending the Nashville Symphony and other associational events.
You’re Invited! We invite you to join us on this spiritual journey and make the most of these latter chapters of life on this earth—for the best is yet to come!
